Can peptides pass into breast milk?

There is very limited data on GLP-1 agonists in breast milk. Animal studies have detected semaglutide in the milk of lactating rats. Due to insufficient human data, both semaglutide and tirzepatide are not recommended during breastfeeding. The potential risk to the infant is unknown. If you're breastfeeding and considering GLP-1 therapy, discuss the risk-benefit balance with your doctor. Most providers recommend waiting until you've finished breastfeeding before starting or resuming treatment.
