Should I stop GLP-1 peptides before trying to conceive?

Yes. Both semaglutide and tirzepatide are not recommended during pregnancy. Animal studies showed embryotoxic effects at high doses. The prescribing information for semaglutide recommends stopping at least 2 months before planned conception; for tirzepatide, the recommendation is at least 1 month (though some providers suggest longer due to its 5-day half-life). If you discover you're pregnant while on a GLP-1 agonist, stop immediately and contact your doctor—but don't panic, as animal studies used higher doses than human therapeutic doses.
