Does alcohol interact with GLP-1 peptides? Is it safe to drink?

There's no direct drug interaction, but many people on GLP-1 agonists report dramatically reduced alcohol tolerance. You may feel intoxicated faster and experience worse hangovers. GLP-1s slow gastric emptying, which can change how quickly alcohol is absorbed. Alcohol also irritates the GI tract, potentially worsening nausea and stomach issues you're already managing. If you choose to drink, start with much less than usual and see how you respond. Some community members find they naturally lose interest in alcohol—this is a commonly reported effect.
